HIGHLIGHTS

  • Tamil Nadu on Thursday reported 185 fresh Covid-19 cases
  • Of TN's new infections, 94 cases were reported from Chennai alone
  • State's active caseload stood at 1,077

Recording a slight dip in the number of infections, Tamil Nadu logged 185 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday against the previous day’s count of 195. Of the state's new cases, 94 cases were reported from Chennai alone.

Notably, Chennai and its three neighbouring districts accounted for almost 80 percent of the fresh infections reported in the state. Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur recorded 24, 19 and 15 cases respectively.

With the new addition, the total tally of cases stood at 34,56,697.

On the recovery front, 129 patients were discharged, taking the state's active caseload to 1,077.

COVID TESTING

A total of 14,081 samples were tested on Thursday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 6,67,44,812. Meanwhile, the state’s positivity rate stood at 1.3 percent.
