Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor Rurual Police seized 71 logs of red sandalwood worth over Rs 1 crore. They also arrested 15 interstate smugglers.
According to Superintendent of Police, Rishant Reddy’s instructions, the Chittoor Rural Police were checking vehicles along the Chittoor-Velur road, where they stopped an ambulance and found red sandalwood logs inside.
The smugglers were also transporting a few logs in a minivan. The logs were hidden under water cans.
The smugglers had cut the logs from the Seshachalam forest in Tirupati. They were transporting the logs to Tamil Nadu when they were nabbed by the police.
